Fabian Basabe grew up partly in Ecuador and in Miami Beach, where his family restored the Boulevard and Breakwater hotels on Ocean Drive, and studied international relations at Pepperdine University. He appeared on several television programs before settling in Miami Beach in 2007 and was elected to the Florida House in 2022.
